Led only by a solitary space station’s AI, traverse space with a grappling hook to collect aliens…and possibly uncover dark secrets. Explore the vast space with a friendly dog partner that will be unlockable later in the game. Play as an astronaut floating through space with nothing but a grappling hook to swing around asteroids, collect aliens, and explore planets.

Programming
In Voyager, all aliens and planets are procedurally generated as the player moves around space. This script checks random points at a certain distance away from the player every frame and attempts to spawn an object according to the alien/planet distribution of the selected region. Many regions have been created in the scene that define which aliens and planets can spawn, as well as how frequently each object can spawn. This way, every area feels slightly different each time the player explores it.

Characters
Laika
The space dog was designed to be our player’s best friend as they traverse the depths of space. Our furry friend was modeled and named after the first dog in space, Laika. This pup comes fully equipped with a space helmet and was fully rigged by Allison Cheng.
Aliens
Aliens were designed to fit the bright and encouraging expedition of the game. Aliens throughout the gameplay show up in a variety of colors including special rainbow and camouflage aliens.

As students at the University of Florida, we joined together as part of a semester-long project, which came to be Voyager. As a team, we are passionate about unique visual storytelling, compelling art style, and fun above all else. We hope this game exemplifies those values and allows you to get to know our team better.
